How to draw the arrow back on our lives to aim towards positive mental health and find purpose in our pain.

Hi, I’m Sandra. I am a mom of 3 amazing kids, a mental health advocate and follower of Jesus. I have a bachelors degree in communications from Eastern Michigan University and have been previously trained as a Stephen’s Ministry Care Giver. I am a member of the Four County Suicide Prevention Coalition as well as a volunteer on the Four County L.O.S.S team (Local Outreach for Survivors of Suicide). I lost my dad by suicide on September 10th, 2007 – World Suicide Prevention Day and it has become a part of my life’s journey ever since. I am thankful for the path God created for me in using my pain from the loss of my dad for my purpose of leading others to positive mental health and a relationship with our Father.
I strongly believe we have the power, with our words, language and the choices we make each day to positively change the world, encouraging one person at a time. My journey taught me, that no matter how deep we are in the pit of despair, sadness and depression, God loves us-unconditionally. I learned in the early days of my grief, the truth in His word he had for me. That truth taught me that having a relationship with Him will allow the light to shine in the deepest and darkest corners of that pit showing us the foothold and a 3 cord rope entwined with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Holding on tightly to this rope, knowing the pit is always beneath us with the enemy waiting to welcome us there, is the only thing that will help us stay out of the pit. During this life, we have burdens and baggage we carry. My goal with this site is to encourage and teach you on topics such as mental health, stigma, grief and how your pain can become your purpose so you can learn how to make an impact in the world of those around you by using the very pain the baggage holds. It’s easy to allow the quiver we carry throughout life to hold onto all the painful arrows that have hurt us. I want to help you see how you can use the very pain you experience through grief, mental health illnesses and the other burdens in life, to aim the arrow to a place that gives God glory. I want to help you see how you can serve your purpose, even in the midst of pain.
Maybe you have been lucky to have never lived a day in the pit. Maybe you are one of many who thinks the pit doesn’t exist and people make up the symptoms of mental health. This site is for you too! Walk with me as we learn about mental health stigma and how you can use your words and actions more appropriately to sit with someone experiencing life in the pit.
It is each one of our jobs to sharpen our tools and armor up to help others aim their focus towards Him. I welcome you to Aiming Arrows!
Just like a target used in archery has several spaces for the arrow to go, I have a few different areas of interest in growing this platform. You will find all the topics I talk about have one thing in common; building positive mental health and aiming our focus to Gods plan for our lives.
Through Aimingarrows.net and the affiliated social media sites under the name of ‘Guiding the Archer’ we will discuss topics such as mental health and stigma, how to turn our pain into purpose and how to recognize the gifts and passion God places within us.
